Agenda

Online Learning Prior To Face-To-FaceOnline

Prior to the face-to-face session, you will complete a series of safety lessons on our online platform where you will learn:

  • Contraindications and precautions
  • Adverse events
  • How to deal with adverse events

There will be a particular focus on the topic of needling during pregnancy, supported by Dr. Carl Clarkson's work on needling safety in pregnancy.

Face-To-Face Training

Pregnancy-related Pelvic Girdle Pain (PPGP)

In this face-to-face session, you will learn prominent acupoints that are considered to be helpful in the management of PPGP, offering several alternative approaches depending on what symptoms your client presents with. A clinical reasoning discussion will guide you to make decisions on if and when to use acupuncture with PPGP sufferers.

Hot flushes

Needling skills for menopausal and cancer related hot flushes will be delivered in the face-to-face session, with the underpinning theory of hot flushes and acupuncture mechanisms of action given on the online platform.

Overactive bladder (OAB)

Combined with education and good bladder health, acupuncture can have an extremely positive effect on OAB symptoms. The online theoretical principles and research that underpins acupuncture for OAB is complemented with a face-to-face session in needling skills, concentrating on prominent acupoints and potential recipes that have been shown to be effective.

Dyspareunia

An ailment with very few treatment options, we explore the potential use of acupuncture for vulvadynia and vaginisimus in a face-to-face needling session.

Nausea and vomiting

Both acupuncture and acupressure can be used to help alleviate nausea, and both techniques will be covered in this face-to-face practical session.

Acupuncture case studies

Discussion throughout the face-to-face course will encourage you to consider how and where you may use acupuncture, as well as which points would be most suited to your client group. This will be consolidated through online case studies and subsequent multi-choice quizzes, which will cement your understanding.
