Our level 3 sports massage course is designed to be flexible, practical, and fully supportive — so you can build real skills and confidence without pressing pause on the rest of your life.
Here’s how it works:
From the moment you enrol, you’ll be supported with expert guidance, in-depth resources, and real-world practice that helps you take your skills to the next level.
Topics Covered
We’ll guide you through everything you need to confidently deliver safe, effective sports massage treatments. You’ll cover all the essential knowledge areas — including anatomy and physiology, soft tissue dysfunction, health and fitness principles, and the legal and ethical responsibilities of working as a therapist.
You’ll also develop hands-on skills using techniques like effleurage, petrissage, and deep tissue methods, with guidance on how to adapt these for pre-event, post-event, and maintenance treatments. We’ll cover client assessment, treatment planning, and recovery strategies, including METs and passive assisted stretching.
By the end of the course, you’ll understand how to work professionally with clients in active settings — from clinics and gyms to sporting events or your own private practice.
Course Assessment
Our assessment process is designed to build your confidence with clear guidance, flexibility, and support at every stage.
COURSE STRUCTURE
This course comes with a notional student workload of 140 hours but designed to be flexible and work around your schedule. We’ve broken everything down into manageable chunks, so you can learn at your own pace – whenever it suits you best. Here’s how it’s structured:
As soon as you enrol, you’ll gain instant access to our online learning portal. Inside, you’ll find high-quality content covering everything from anatomy and physiology revision to soft tissue dysfunction, health and fitness principles, and professional standards. You’ll also have access to a full video library of massage techniques, so you can start learning at your own pace — whether you’re brand new or brushing up on the basics. You’ll find the content engaging and practical, featuring videos, case studies, and real-world examples to help bring the theory to life.
Whilst you’re doing one of our courses we recommend you get student insurance. Both the Federation of Holistic Therapists and the Sports Therapy Organisation offer student membership to cover you while you learn.
This is where everything comes to life. Over two immersive days, you’ll practise massage techniques under the guidance of our tutors with expertise in sports therapy, physiotherapy, and education. You’ll build hands-on skills, get real-time feedback, and develop the confidence to treat clients in a variety of settings — including pre-event, post-event, and maintenance scenarios.
Assessment is broken into three stages to support your confidence as you progress. You’ll start with an online anatomy and physiology quiz before your workshop (70% pass mark, with multiple attempts allowed). On the final day of your in-person workshop, you’ll complete three practical assessments in a supportive, hands-on environment. After that, and once your course fee is settled, you’ll unlock your final online tasks: three case studies, each with a multiple-choice quiz. You’ll have a full month to complete them, with the option to resubmit if needed.
Self-directed learning is a vital part of developing confidence and competence as a practitioner. This is your opportunity to take ownership of your development — diving deeper into topics through reading, refining your massage techniques, and practising assessments like subjective history taking, posture observation, and objective testing. Engaging in this kind of learning not only reinforces what you’ve covered in training but also helps you build the critical thinking and hands-on skills needed to thrive in real-world practice.
Jason Metcalfe (Sports Massage)
I recently completed the Level 4 Sports Massage course with Breeze Academy, and the experience has been transformative for my career. As a physiotherapist working both within the NHS and private practice, the course significantly enhanced my manual therapy techniques, broadened my understanding of musculoskeletal conditions, and refined my skills in musculoskeletal rehabilitation.
Mia Henderson (Sports Massage)
This academy is AMAZING. Claire trained us all at university for the level 4 sports massage training course. Her knowledge is so broad and goes into immense detail about everything. She is very patient with new learners and a great teacher! I’m definitely going to be looking at further courses to extend my knowledge with this academy. I recommend it to everybody. Thanks so much Claire!
Kathryn Bell (Sports Massage)
Carl and Claire have been extremely helpful during my L4 sports massage course. Everyday was interesting and very engaging due to there being such a wide range of information and techniques to learn. It has also helped me to brush up on my anatomy and common pathologies at different joints again which was much needed.I would definitely recommend Breeze Academy to others. Thank you!
Alin Maxim (Sports Massage)
I have attended a Level 4 Sports Massage course which was really enjoyable and offered plenty of practice opportunity. Carl is a professional and knowledgeable tutor and he provided a very high standard of teaching on the face-to-face days. The online learning is also clear and well structured and there are lots of learning materials available to prepare you for the assessments.
Oscar Bartram (Sports Massage)
The team at Breeze Academy provided excellent support and an environment that allowed for developing our MSK theory and combing it with the practical elements necessary for this hands-on skill. A massive thank you to those involved 🙌🏻 Looking ahead, I am excited to utilise this qualification to contribute to the health and performance of both athletes and those invested in their fitness…

You’ll work with healthy tissue to support recovery, enhance flexibility, and boost performance. Please note, this qualification does not cover the assessment or treatment of soft tissue injuries. Will I leave the workshop feeling confident in sports massage and hands-on therapy?
Absolutely! Our workshops are designed to leave you feeling confident and ready to apply your new skills in real-world settings. With ample hands-on experience, expert guidance, and personalised feedback, you’ll not only master the techniques but also gain a strong understanding of when and why to use them.

You’ll be equipped to deliver effective pre-event, post-event, and maintenance massage, helping clients prepare for physical activity, recover after it, and maintain peak performance. While you won’t be trained to assess or treat injuries at this level, many therapists build thriving practices providing general sports massage.
You’ll also be eligible for professional insurance and memberships, enabling you to start working with clients immediately.
Will I be able to treat injuries after completing the course?
The level 3 diploma in sports massage therapy provides you with the skills to deliver general sports massage treatments, including pre event, post-event, and maintenance massage. However, it does not qualify you to assess or treat injured tissue, and most insurance providers will not cover you for working on injuries at this level.
