  • Understand what exercise, physical activity, and strength and conditioning are, how they can be used to effectively prescribe exercise and how this can be done in a safe and effective manner.
  • Understand and implement the principles of exercise prescription to develop the physical capabilities of patients.
  • Conduct effective analyses of patients and use the findings to effectively prescribe and monitor tailored exercises and exercise programmes to successfully develop the physical capabilities of patients.
  • Describe, conduct, demonstrate and coach key exercises, such as the squat and its variations, to ensure their safe and effective utilisation with patients.
  • Analyse and provide corrections, regressions and progressions of the key exercises in order to tailor feedback for patients so that they conduct exercises in an safe and effective manner.
  • Improve your confidence in applying the principles of exercise prescription for all patients without relying on expensive or complicated gym equipment which is not often available to most healthcare professionals.

You will receive a fully evidence-based approach to the implementation of exercise prescription. Day 1

Online learning prior to face-to-faceOnline

Prior to the face-to-face session, you will cover the key concepts relating to exercise prescription. These include, but are not limited to:

  • The benefits of exercise and why we exercise
  • Precautions and contraindications
  • The principles of exercise prescription
  • How to use needs analyses, assessment and evidence, to prescribe exercise
  • How to choose appropriate exercises for your patients
  • How to coach, progress, regress and manage exercises for your patients
  • How to manage dosage to develop physical capabilities such as strength, power and hypertrophy
  • How to develop and manage exercise programmes for your patients

Face-to-Face Workshop Day 1

Here, you will put the theory into practice. We will consider the use of warmups, how to structure and tailor them. We will use case studies, to conduct needs analyses, assess strength and power, then develop programmes for the case studies.

This will be a very practically driven day, based on applying theory into practice, through exercise, coaching and fun!
