Membership Standards

Maintaining Your Registration

As a registrant of the Breeze Academy Membership, you are expected to uphold high standards of clinical excellence, professionalism, and personal accountability. To remain on the Breeze Academy Register, you must:

  • Complete an annual self-declaration confirming your ongoing eligibility and compliance with the Breeze Academy Standards of Practice.
  • Participate in audits if selected, providing evidence of your continued professional development and safe practice.
  • Maintain adequate professional indemnity insurance, a valid First Aid certificate, and a current DBS check.

Safe Clinical Practice

Registrants must:

  • Maintain a clean, hygienic, and safe clinical environment.
  • Carry out thorough client health screenings and risk assessments.
  • Identify and respond appropriately to contraindications.
  • Manage adverse events calmly and competently.
  • Use safe manual handling techniques during treatment.
  • Follow current health and safety legislation and local procedures.
  • Keep accurate records of safety checks and incidents.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) where appropriate.
  • Hold a valid and up-to-date First Aid certification.

Effective Clinical Practice

Registrants must:

  • Possess a sound understanding of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and dysfunction.
  • Recognise how clinical features of common conditions may influence treatment.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and non–verbal communication skills.
  • Use clear, effective written and spoken English.
  • Practise within their own level of competence, seeking advice or referring when necessary.
  • Make informed clinical decisions, adapting or ceasing treatment as required.
  • Work effectively with others, including within multidisciplinary or shared-care settings.

Professional Conduct

Registrants must:

  • Obtain valid, informed consent before providing treatment.
  • Act in the best interests of clients at all times.
  • Deliver inclusive care that respects clients‘ dignity, values, beliefs, and backgrounds.
  • Fulfil all legal and ethical responsibilities.
  • Take full responsibility for clinical decisions and actions.
  • Keep clear, accurate, and secure records of care provided.
  • Protect client confidentiality and handle all personal data in line with privacy regulations.
  • Report concerns about safety or misconduct appropriately.
  • Disclose any convictions or sanctions that may impact professional integrity.
  • Avoid any behaviour-personal or professional–that could undermine public trust.

Continuous Professional Development (CPD)

All registrants must engage in continuous learning to ensure their practice remains current, effective, and evidence-based.

CPD Expectations:

  • Undertake learning activities that develop clinical or professional competence.
  • Ensure all CPD is relevant to your current or future scope of practice.
  • Reflect on the impact of learning and how it improves your service.
  • Keep a personal record of your CPD activities, including:
  • Details of each activity, including:
  • Date, duration, and format (e.g. course, reflection, peer review)
  • A short reflective statement on how the activity benefited your practice
  • A varied CPD portfolio that might include:
  • Clinical case reflections
  • Attendance at training or workshops
  • Peer learning or journal reading
  • Minimum of 10 hours per year of relevant CPD

Annual Self-Declaration Requirements:

  • Each year, registrants must confirm:
  • I have undertaken CPD and maintained records.
  • I continue to provide safe, effective, and professional care.
  • I have current and adequate professional indemnity insurance.
  • I hold a valid, up-to-date DBS certificate.
