As you progress through the various modules, you’ll discover the large body of prominent, pertinent and up-to-date evidence supporting the use of acupuncture in Women’s Health, whilst at the same time developing your needling skills so that you can provide dramatic results for your clients, offering them the complete package of pain relief and wellbeing.

With theoretical knowledge and application reviewed from both a Western and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) perspective, this course takes you through a number of applications and techniques, allowing you to confidently apply acupuncture for the treatment of pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain (PPGP), hot flushes, overactive bladder, dyspareunia, nausea and vomiting, as well as needling safety in pregnancy.

This course is for healthcare professionals who have already taken a foundation course in acupuncture but are now looking to offer more to their clients, whilst at the same time wanting to complete CPD hours and advance their skills and understanding further.

Online learning prior to face-to-faceOnline

Prior to the face to face session, you will complete safety lessons on our online platform.

You will learn:

  • Contraindications and precautions
  • Adverse events
  • How to deal with adverse events

Discussion on the topic of needling during pregnancy will have a special focus, supported by Dr. Carl Clarkson's work on needling safety in pregnancy.

Face-to-face training

Pregnancy-related Pelvic Girdle Pain (PPGP)

In this face-to-face session, you will learn prominent acupoints that are considered to be helpful in the management of PPGP, offering several alternative approaches depending on what symptoms your client presents with.

A clinical reasoning discussion will guide you to make decisions on if and when to use acupuncture with PPGP sufferers.

Hot flushes

Needling skills for menopausal and cancer related hot flushes will be delivered in the face-to-face session, with the underpining theory of hot flushes and acupucture mechansims of action given on the online platform.

Overactive bladder (OAB)

Combined with education and good bladder health, acupuncture can have an extrmeley positive effect on OAB symptoms. The online theoretical principles and research that underpins acupuncture for OAB is complemented with a face-to-face session in needling skills, concentrating on prominent acupoints and potential recipes that have been shown to be effective.

Dyspareunia

An ailment with very few treatment options, we explore the potential use of acupuncture for vulvadynia and vaginisimus in a face-to-face needling session.

Nausea and vomiting

Both acupuncture and acupressure can be used to help alleviate nausea, and both techniques will be covered in this face-to-face practical session.

Acupuncture case studies

Discussion throughout the face-to-face course will encourage you to consider how and where you may use acupuncture, as well as which points would be most suited to your client group. This will be consolidated through online case studies and subsequent multi-choice Quizes, which will cement your understanding.
