  • Want to gain a thorough understanding of Strength and Conditioning?
  • Want to gain confidence in getting under the bar?
  • Looking to make evidence based, person-specific rehab programmes for your clients?

This course will prepare Physiotherapists, Sports Therapists, Osteopaths, Chiropractors and Personal Trainers to effectively test, evaluate and prescribe appropriate exercises to enhance the physical capabilities of patients, using the principles of exercise prescription embedded within strength and conditioning.

You will gain confidence in your own technique, and how to effectively coach clients in their therapy-orientated exercise rehab, and apply the principles of exercise prescription without relying on expensive equipment that is not often available to all healthcare professionals or patients.

Our hybrid approach to this course, allows you to digest theory in your own time, via our online platform that has over 100 lessons. Then, develop your practical skills of strength and conditioning techniques and coaching via the face to face one day workshop.

The course was written by Dr. Michael Kelly, a Senior Lecturer in Physiotherapy and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

  • Understand what exercise, physical activity, and strength and conditioning are, how they can be used to effectively prescribe exercise and how this can be done in a safe and effective manner.
  • Gain confidence in your own strength and conditioning techniques, to feel comfortable 'under the bar'.
  • Understand and implement the principles of strength, conditioning and exercise prescription to develop the physical capabilities of patients.
  • Through an evidence based approach, conduct a needs analyses and use the findings to effectively prescribe and monitor tailored exercises and exercise programmes to successfully develop the physical capabilities of patients.
  • Describe, conduct, demonstrate and coach key exercises, such as the squat and its variations, to ensure safe and effective utilisation with patients.
  • Analyse and provide corrections, regressions and progressions of the key exercises in order to tailor feedback for patients so that they conduct exercises in a safe and effective manner.
  • Improve your confidence in applying the principles of exercise prescription for all patients without relying on expensive or complicated gym equipment which is not often available to most healthcare professionals.

You will receive a fully evidence-based approach to the implementation of strength, conditioning and exercise prescription. You will be provided with a comprehensive range of study materials, including lectures, videos, journals, and case studies that span over 100 non-live online lessons. All of the materials will be used to support your understanding of:

Not only will you be more confident getting under the bar, but you will feel comfortable to prescribe and coach the core principles of strength, conditioning and exercise prescription. You will be able to harness the evidence base to provide unique, tailor made exercise schedules for your clients to help them in their rehab journey.

If you know that your knowledge or application of theory to clinical populations could be strengthened (pun firmly intended), then this course is for you!
