The practical workshop is where everything comes together. Over two immersive days, you’ll take your theoretical knowledge and put it into practice — developing your massage techniques, refining your clinical reasoning, and building your confidence with real-world scenarios.

Over two immersive days, you’ll develop hands-on confidence with key sports massage techniques, progressing from foundational skills to more advanced, injury-focused treatments.

• From Day 1, you’ll dive into the core massage techniques, focusing on effleurage, petrissage, and deep tissue methods. You’ll explore how to adapt your techniques for different settings, including pre-event, post-event and maintenance massage. You’ll also learn additional techniques like Muscle Energy Techniques (METs) and Passive Assisted Stretching to enhance client recovery and performance.
• Day 2 focuses on the management of injuries, using your knowledge of healing processes, pathophysiology, and massage techniques to build clinical treatment plans ensuring you are ready to integrate advanced sports massage into your own practice.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll be fully prepared to deliver pre-event, post-event, maintenance, and injury-focused massage treatments across a variety of client groups and settings.

You’ll need to complete all of the core chapters before the practical workshop, as they provide the essential knowledge needed for the hands-on training. The rest of the content is optional, and you can explore it at your own pace — either before or after the workshop. This flexibility allows you to dive deeper into specific areas that align with your interests or career goals.

Since you already have a solid foundation in anatomy, physiology, and related subjects from your academic studies, the core modules will help you build on that knowledge and prepare for the practical sessions. The additional resources are there to support your ongoing development, but you’re in control of when you engage with them, so everything can fit around your schedule!

Don’t worry about bringing any equipment – we’ve got everything covered for you! Just come in loose, comfortable clothing, and bring along a pair of shorts and two large towels.

All our venues have Wi-Fi, so you’ll be all set to dive into the practical sessions and make the most of your time!

You’ll be massaging from the start. The practical component of the course begins right away in the workshop, starting with mastering the basics and progressing to more advanced techniques.

Our step-by-step approach ensures you build confidence, refine your skills, and receive continuous support throughout the process. By the end of the workshop, you’ll be fully equipped to integrate everything you’ve learned into your practice with confidence.

Our assessment process is designed to build your confidence with clear guidance, flexibility, and support at every stage.

• Before the workshop: You’ll complete an online multiple-choice quiz to test key anatomy and physiology concepts. This ensures you’re prepared for the practical training. You can retake the quiz as needed, and a 70% pass mark is required.
• During the workshop: You’ll participate in informal, tutor-led assessments, where you’ll work through injury-specific treatment tasks and receive real-time feedback to strengthen your skills. On the final day of the workshop you’ll demonstrate your skills in a practical assessment.
• After the workshop: Once the in-person training is complete and your course payment finalised, you’ll have one month to finish your final online assessments, these include  case study reviews with multiple choice questions. There’s flexibility to resubmit if needed, and we’re here to guide you to success.

We understand that assessments can feel a bit intimidating, but rest assured, you won’t be unprepared. Throughout the course, you’ll gain plenty of hands-on practice and receive constructive feedback to help you build confidence and refine your technique. If any areas need more attention, we’ll identify them early on and provide the support you need to improve during the workshop.

On the day of the practical assessment, if you don’t quite meet the required standard, we’ll have a clear conversation about your next steps. We’ll discuss what additional support or learning might be needed before you can complete the qualification. Our goal is always to give you the best opportunity to succeed – with clear expectations, a supportive environment, and tutors who are genuinely invested in helping you feel confident and capable in your practice.

Once you’ve attended the practical workshop, completed the online assessment, and paid in full, your certificate will be automatically generated and available for immediate download.

You’ll be equipped to plan, deliver, and evaluate pre-event, post-event, and maintenance massages, as well as provide support for clients with musculoskeletal dysfunctions and injuries that have been assessed by a healthcare professional. This opens up exciting opportunities to work more closely with athletes and active individuals in clinical, sporting, or mobile settings.

Additionally, you’ll be eligible for insurance and professional memberships, so you can start practising safely and professionally with the public right away.

In addition, our “Launching Your Sports Massage Business” module provides actionable tips for setting up your own practice, including strategies for marketing your advanced skills. By the end, you’ll have not only have the hands-on expertise but also the knowledge and insight to build a successful career.

Our level 4 sports massage therapy course focuses on a hands-on approach to sports massage, covering a range of basic and advanced techniques to assess and treat musculoskeletal issues. While taping and strapping are not a core part of this training, the skills you develop – such as injury assessment, soft tissue manipulation, and  rehabilitation techniques – will provide a strong foundation for integrating additional modalities into your practice.

If you’re interested in learning taping and strapping techniques, we offer an online sports strapping and taping course designed to develop these skills.

The level 4 qualification you’ll gain with us is internationally accredited, meaning it’s recognised in many countries around the world. However, each country has its own regulations when it comes to practising sports massage, so there’s no one-size-fits-all answer.

Student membership is available through organisations such as the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) and the Sports Therapy Organisation (STO), both of which offer insurance options designed to support learners while they develop their practical experience.
