Course Delivery
Our level 4 sports massage course is designed to work around your schedule while giving you the advanced skills and confidence to assess and treat a broader range of client needs — including pre-diagnosed injuries. It builds on your existing knowledge, sharpens your clinical reasoning, and prepares you to deliver more specialised, effective care.
Here’s how it all comes together:
- Pre-course study (40–50 hours): You’ll begin with full access to our online learning platform, where you can refresh your anatomy and physiology knowledge and dive into advanced content on joint function, injury pathologies, assessment techniques, and professional practice. You’ll also get unlimited access to our video technique library — a valuable tool as you start working with more complex cases.
- Practical workshop (3 days / 24 hours): This is where theory meets practice. Over three immersive days, you’ll refine your massage techniques, develop clinical reasoning, and work hands-on with injury-focused treatments — all under the expert guidance of our tutors. You’ll cover everything from maintenance and event massage to managing more complex musculoskeletal presentations.
- Assessment (4 hours): Your assessments are spread across three stages. Before your workshop, you’ll complete an online anatomy and physiology quiz to refresh key concepts — you can take this as needed, with a 70% pass mark required. During the in-person training, you’ll work through a series of formative assessments, guided by your tutor as you develop injury-specific treatment skills. After the workshop and once your course payment is finalised, you’ll have one month to complete your final online assessment.
- Self-directed learning (50 hours): Self-directed learning is a vital part of developing confidence and competence as a practitioner. This is your opportunity to take ownership of your development — diving deeper into topics through reading, refining your massage techniques, and practicing assessments like subjective history taking, posture observation, and objective testing. Engaging in this kind of learning not only reinforces what you’ve covered in training but also helps you build the critical thinking and hands-on skills needed to thrive in real-world practice.
- You are covered by Breeze Academy’s insurance while attending all practical, face-to-face workshop days as part of your course. If you wish to practice your skills outside of the workshop environment, we strongly recommend you obtain student insurance. Student membership is available through organisations such as the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) and the Sports Therapy Organisation (STO), both of which offer insurance options designed to support learners while they develop their practical experience. Having appropriate insurance in place allows you to practise confidently and gain valuable hands-on experience throughout your learning journey.
From the moment you enrol, you’ll be supported with expert guidance, in-depth resources, and real-world practice that helps you take your skills to the next level.

This dual accreditation ensures your qualification meets rigorous national standards for quality, professionalism, and real-world application.
We can assure you that we’ve trained thousands of students who are now confidently, safely and legally using sports massage in their practice, with great success. We’re confident that this course will give you everything you need to feel completely at ease with your new skills and clinical reasoning.
Is taping and strapping included in this course?
Our level 4 sports massage therapy course focuses on a hands-on approach to sports massage, covering a range of basic and advanced techniques to assess and treat musculoskeletal issues. While taping and strapping are not a core part of this training, you receive our Fully Online Sports Strapping course when booking with us.
Is the certificate valid in other countries outside of the UK?
The level 4 qualification you’ll gain with us is internationally accredited, meaning it’s recognised in many countries around the world. However, each country has its own regulations when it comes to practising sports massage, so there’s no one-size-fits-all answer.
We always recommend checking the specific regulations for the country where you plan to work. If you’re unsure, we’re happy to help you assess whether this course aligns with local standards – just reach out, and we’ll do our best to assist you.
Do I need insurance whilst training?
You are covered by Breeze Academy’s insurance while attending all practical, face-to-face workshop days as part of your course.
